Stuth Family
The Stuth family of Jaylin Farms Inc. started raising turkeys for Cargill in July of 2022. When they get ready for turkeys, it's all hands-on deck with Jason, Lindsay and their two kids, Brodie and Harlow. Jason, his son, and hired help take care of the daily chores.
Litter management is important to the Stuths. They use grid soil sampling and variable rate commercial fertilizer combined with the litter to maximize nutrients.
Jason says bird health is important. Always looking to improve immunity, if Cargill recommends products or procedures, they implement the practice. They also practice biosecurity, like changing their boots before entering the poultry house.
Jason says they got into raising turkeys as a way to diversify their grain and beef operation and improve our cash flow by using their own litter and reducing total purchased fertilizer. Jason says he wants to know if the work we put in to improve performance has paid off.
"I love the competitiveness of trying to be a good grower," he said.
