The Showalter Family
Sherman Showalter and his family grow for Farmer Focus and operate Paradise Poultry in Fulks Run, and Sundial Poultry in Mt. Crawford as well as a dairy farm west of Harrisonburg. Sundial Poultry was built in 2013, and Paradise Poultry was added in 2022. The Showalters have four young sons that help on the dairy and always enjoy going along to help unload baby chicks during placement.
Sherman says they work alongside the NRCS in their nutrient management plan to ensure they apply the proper amount of nutrients to grow crops.
With their organic chickens, the Showalters have high quality feed, less density, outdoor access, and natural lighting which results in healthy birds.
Sherman says, "We love agriculture, and one way we have diversified is by adding poultry to our dairy operation."
